Dr. Paola Fugazzola earned a medical degree from the University of Milan in 2010. She finished her specialization in General Surgery in 2017 and has since established a distinguished career in the field. Dr. Fugazzola began her career as a consultant in the General and Emergency Surgery Unit of the Trauma Center Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, Italy. In 2021, she began working as a consultant at the IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo Foundation's Trauma Center in Pavia, Italy. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Experimental Medicine at the University of Pavia, with a focus on innovative surgical care approaches. Dr. Fugazzola specializes in emergency surgery, trauma care, and peritoneal oncology surgery, and she is committed to improving patient outcomes and advancing surgical practices.Dr. Paola Fugazzola earned a medical degree from the University of Milan in 2010. Brian Anthony Tian is an acute care surgeon with Singapore General Hospital (SGH). SGH has been consistently ranked as one of the world’s best hospitals by Newsweek. He sits on the editorial boards of several international journals and also is a reviewer of several renowned international journals. He passionately believes that the ACS system is a natural evolution of a matured healthcare system. Yet, it remains one of the most underserved specialties. More awareness, research and innovation can be done to further improve the delivery of care via this ACS model, and ultimately benefit patients globally in a huge, meaningful and impactful manner.

Professor Luca Ansaloni was born in Bologna on March 16, 1963. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna in 1989, achieving a score of 110/110 with honors. He obtained his medical license from the University of Bologna the same year and was registered in the Medical Register of Bologna on May 23, 1989, where he remains registered to this day. In 1994, he completed his specialization in Emergency Surgery and Emergency Medicine at the University of Bologna, earning a score of 70/70 with honors. Additionally, he gained the right to practice medicine internationally, having worked in Kenya and the United Kingdom. From 1990 to 1997, he gained significant professional experience abroad, working in hospitals in Uganda (Kalongo Hospital) and Kenya (Sololo Mission Hospital and Nazareth Hospital). After obtaining his diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Liverpool in 1994, he returned to Italy. He worked as a Level I Medical Director in General Surgery at hospitals in Chioggia (1999-2000) and Lugo (2000-2001). From 2001 to 2010, he served as a Level I Medical Director in General Surgery at the Unit of General Surgery, Emergency Surgery, and Transplants at Sant'Orsola Hospital in Bologna. From 2010 to 2017, he was the Head of the Surgery Unit I at Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo. He then served as the Head of the General and Emergency Surgery Unit at Maurizio Bufalini Hospital in Cesena from 2017 to 2020. Since 2020, he has been the Head of the General Surgery Unit 1 at the IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo Foundation and concurrently serves as the Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Professor Ansaloni is the author of over 500 national and international scientific publications and is a member of numerous national and international scientific societies. Notably, he was the founder and president of the World Society of Emergency Surgery (WSES). In 2018, he received national scientific qualification as a Full Professor of General Surgery. Since 2020, he has been affiliated with the University of Pavia as a professor of general surgery. He has performed over 5,000 surgeries, with more than 4,000 carried out as the primary operator or tutor.

Professor Fausto Catena wrote more than 1000 scientific papers, (more than 500 on pubmed, H index = 85) ) 50  book chapters and 10 Books. He was awarded 25 national and international scientific prizes and performed more than 4500 medium- high level surgical procedures. He is Editor in Chief of the World Journal of Emergency Surgery (IMPACT FACTOR 8.1), as well as Editor of other 30 Journals and Member of the Committee on Publication Ethics. Prof. Catena attended more than 350 national and international Congress and  40  Postgraduate Courses, and was invited speaker in about 300 national and international Congress and chairman in about 100 national and international Congress; he was also teacher in about 100 Postgraduate Courses and organized about 80 national and international Congress and Postgraduate Courses. He is contract Professor of the School of Specialization in General Surgery of Bologna University and  Surgical Instructor for Residents in General Surgery, Professor of e-Campus University, Past President of the Italian Society of Young Surgeons, General Secretary of the World Society of Emergency Surgery, General Secretary of the Italian Society of Surgical Physiopathology, Member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society of Geriatric Surgery, past Member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society of Digestive Pathology and Past President of ESYS- European College of Surgeons- Italian Chapter. From 2012 he is Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons UK, Prof Catena is world opinion leader in emergency surgery: he wrote all WSES guidelines- position papers in this scientific field. From 2021 Prof Catena was inserted in the list of Top Scientists della Stanford University
